Mom has contracted C Diff after TX for a UTI.

She soiled her clothes with BM. My question is what should I do with her apparel? The SNF told me to wash them, because I signed upward to wash her apparel. Only curious if I need to use bleach. I have used gloves handling them.

I have washed them 4 times already.

I retrieve I will run a couple bleach cycles in the washer too.

Every bit for my Mom, she is beingness treated for the C Diff. I hope she pulls through. I am also going to bring her some yogurt to help her tum out.

Bottom-line:
hot cycle
"existent" bleach (not oxygen bleach / color bleach)
launder her c-diff contaminated apparel by themselves

This way you sanitize the contaminated items AND avoid cross-contamination of other clothes from spores that are transferred from her apparel into the washing machine/plumbing and from in that location onto other wearing apparel in subsequent loads Eeker

Washing Apparel

There is some show that at low temperature washes (xxx Degrees) Clostridium Difficile spores may be washed out of contaminated clothes and remain inside the washing machine pipe work and sump. The spores could then be washed dorsum onto make clean wearing apparel. Therefore, it is a good idea to utilize a washing powder containing chlorine bleach i.eastward. NOT a "colour" or not-bio product, and to use powder rather than liquid. This is considering liquid detergents comprise bleaching agents which may or may not comprise chlorine bleach, whereas powders contain actual chlorine bleach in low levels which help to kill whatever spores. Information technology is also a skillful idea to run a 90 degree launder one time a month with the automobile empty and a total load of detergent to completely clean out your washing machine. This ensures that all potential c-diff spores are killed and also cleans out whatsoever erstwhile lather residue from your machine making for more efficient washes.

I found this at mayoclinic.com

Enough of fluids. Choose fluids containing water, table salt and saccharide, such as diluted fruit juice, soft drinks and broths.
Good nutrition. If you take watery diarrhea, eat starchy foods, such every bit potatoes, noodles, rice, wheat and oatmeal. Other good choices are saltine crackers, bananas, soup and boiled vegetables. If you aren't hungry, you may ingest a liquid diet at first. Subsequently your diarrhea clears up, y'all may take temporary difficulty digesting milk and milk-based products.

I call up I would throw away her c-diff soiled clothes (in a carefully sealed trash bag)...
Showtime rinsing them out in bleach in a tub (you can purchase one cheaply at Target) to limit the spread of the disease.

I would Purchase her new clothes at a goodwill shop-- in affluence-- volition cost little and will prevent your getting the disease or spreading it (Wear gloves whenever you handle her clothes)...

or but become to Walmart and purchase xx nightgowns to wear until disease has healed.

I know that C-Diff can be mortiferous, can spread through a nursing dwelling house and make everyone(aides included) ill. A friend did survive it but it can be affect and get for many weakened immune systems..

I don't think lasagna or chocolate are advisable foods for a sick intestinal tract. I'd call a doctor and observe out exactly what to do...
Liquids are the most important part of surviving C-unequal..

This new one is off our list for the future.
